Amino Acids - 10 things about:1. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein like letters are to language. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to eat flesh to make flesh! (that is the best argument for cannibalism...)
2. We need 8 essential amino acids, 9 if you are a baby (found in mother's milk). These make up complete protein and are found in many plant foods
3. Raw Nuts & seeds especially almonds but most nuts contain all essential amino acids and range from 10-30% protein as much as chicken, fish or meat
4. Plant sources of protein do not contain cholesterol, whereas all animal sources do. Extracted pea protein contains 60-80% protein containing all 8 essential amino acids
5. Cooked amino acids (protein) coagulates (like egg whites) this becomes extremely difficult to digest as food needs to be water soluble. Coagulated protein is not water soluble.
6. Because cooked protein is so difficult to digest you need to eat more protein than if you ate only raw protein
7. If you eat raw animal flesh, you will be exposed to large quantities of parasites
8. You are more likely to suffer from a lack of glucose or natural carbohydrates than lack protein in a western lifestyle.
9. You need 1 gram of protein for every 2 kgs of body
weight
10. Children under 18 need 1 g for every kg of weight
