Dear Natural Wayer,

Mark & I would like to wish you and your family a blessed holiday, and may God's love & grace touch your lives at this time as we commemorate the ultimate act of love He bestowed on us.

To help you all over this time to stay healthy and to move towards a healthier new year, we are posting some of our cooking demos and talks on YouTube you can search under my name or connect with us on Facebook and Twitter at

We also have our last cooking demo on Wednesday 21 Dec for 2011. I will be making things like a Christmas Icecream Bombe! Be there if you can at 10 am. R150 includes lunch and it finishes at 1 - Phone 021 856 2500

Then some last minute travel and Holiday tips;

Jet lag

To avoid jet lag, constipation and water retention, recover from sunburn, food poisoning, stings and bad food choices
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate - the more water you drink and the less you eat, the better you will do.
We drink water continuously when we fly and add 2-3 doses of BarleyLife (dried barley grass juice - if you don't like the taste take the tablets)
Then we take a good Probiotic (like Forever's Probiotic - it is easy to swallow and works really well) with a pouch of Aloe 2 Go (the aloe feeds the friendly bacteria) to keep your digestive tract working, gas-free and comfortable. 'Not eating' allows your digestive tract to correct itself to the new time zone faster.

If you cannot cope with no eating then first choice is fresh fruit and salads (choose raw or vegan option with the airline)

Then make sure you have a day outdoors planned, and do not wear any glasses on that day. This allows the light into the eyes, which will correct the pineal gland and regulate melatonin and serotonin. Try choosing a flight that lands in the morning, so you can spend that first day outdoors.

Take 3-5 Composure (herbal combination) as soon as you are on board to relax you. This calms your mind and will allow you to sleep as much as possible.

Constipation
This is a common problem whether you drive or fly. The inactivity, eating at strange times being anxious using public toilets and time and space constraints (nothing like a queue of people to make you retentive)

Herbal Fiberblend - in powder or capsule form gets things comfortable - drink with 2 glasses of water for best results

Include Forever Probiotic and an Aloe 2 Go pouch (very easy to travel with!) will correct and keep your bowels on track

Water Retention
Water retention is common when traveling by car or plane mainly from being inert
Barley Life in capsules or powder taken every 2- 3 hours while traveling and then 1-2 times when away will help to prevent this as will moving around on the plane every few hours or stopping for a short walk if in a car.
I also find that Herbal Release taken daily on holiday helps to correct this when the diet is not optimal.

Food poisoning
Herbal Fibreblend is a must when travelling, saves you and enormous amount in wasted time and medicines when you get a tummy bug. In fact we take it daily to prevent tunmmy bugs as well as Aloe Vera 2 Go as it feeds the friendly bacteria and together (including BarleyLife here) these products help to strengthen immune function
Then take Forever's Probiotic and Aloe Vera drinking gel 2-3 times daily to regulate and restore digestive function

Sunburn
I have always had a bad reaction to sunblock, but have found one that does not react and works and makes my skin feel amazing!!
Forever's aloe Suncreen is a must as is their Aloe Vera Gelly in a tube to apply to burnt lips, sunburn, or any skin problem related to the sun.
Mark & I forgot to use the sunscreen on the weekend while we were digging (we madly are trying to build our own pool, as a project!!). I could feel my lips were burnt and that always means a fever blister/s. I applied Forever's Aloe Vera Gelly 3 times that evening and have had no blisters. Not even a tiny one!!

Bath in Forever's Bath salts with essential oils like lavender and Bergamot. Very soothing and apply Aloe Moisturizing lotion if your skin is very dry.

Make sure to drink at least a glass of carrot juice a day or take a tsp. each day of Just Carrots - dried carrot juice- and BarleyLife daily. These two foods contain plenty of beta carotene, which will protect your skin against damage and skin cancer. You can also eat fresh and dried mango daily for the same reason.

Jelly fish and blue bottle stings
Aloe First Aid spray
Aloe Gelly

Apply either as soon as you can

Sprains, sore backs from travel and twisted ankles
Often from long hours of travel you can get of a plane or train or out of a car and feel twice your age. That is when we use Aloe Heat lotion. Just a rub around a stiff neck or joints, can leave you feeling invigorated and ready to get going. We don't travel without this product.

Hair maintenance in sun, sea and sand
Nothing like Sun, sea and sand to make your hair feel like cardboard!. We use Naturalmente shampoos and leave in the conditioners when it is swimming season. Use the shampoo that suites your hair and add Maccassar a silicone like hair treament that seals and protects your hair, made entirely from plants.
Aloe First Aid spray, great protection before being in the sun and sea and after as a quick hair "pick-me-up"

Holiday flu
A common side-effect of 'holidays' is poor options at meal times. This can leave you sluggish and run down and prone to post holiday flu.
The two best things for this is BarleyLife and Aloe 2 Go (or Forever's Aloe Vera and Pomesteen juice mixed if you have space for it)
A good probiotic like Forever's Active Probiotic or Aim's Florafood will also help.
Rest and drink plenty of water.
