Dear Safety-Aware,

WHAT'S ON YOUR CALENDAR?

For a list of health, safety and environmental Awareness Days:

Go to the Department of Health's website http://www.doh.gov.za/.

Look for QUICK LINKS on the right hand side.

There it gives you the option of various Awareness Days.

You will be spoiled for choice!

Keeping Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) at the forefront of our minds is a never-ending challenge.

Production, costs, quality, various issues, change programs, initiatives, directives, and requests from the boss or head office are enough to keep employees busy 24/7.

One way to get SHE to the top of the list every so often, is to hold AWARENESS DAYS.

Many of you feel this is a waste of time.

Past experience tells you that these days do not lead to any change in behaviour, and anyway, your busy schedules do not allow for more Awareness Days.

The old adage holds true:

"What you put in, you will get out"

If you put time, money and effort into organising the Awareness Days, they will pay off.

Plan these days with interesting, unique and FUN activities, including a few take-aways, or handouts, to engage your employees.

Companies use my customised Safety CookiesTM and personalised Key Rings with great success, as they add a different dimension to their awareness campaigns.

By failing to prepare, you prepare to fail.

Your thoughts and input on the above topic are very welcome.
Share them with me by sending an email to pa2JHT@iburst.co.za or jurgen@anda.co.za.
