So, what is all this fuss about UNCAPPED ADSL ?

has all this ADSL propaganda got you feeling a bit confused ? Many company's are agressively marketing UNCAPPED, UNSHAPED and other ADSL products for seemingly very low rates, the aim of the game being mainly to sway you as a subscriber ( often for 12 months or more ) to their product offering for seemingly a lot less than what you are paying now .

Before you sign up , there is a bit of maths that may help you make the right decision. Most companies will be offering you their uncapped products at a certain monthly fee for a line or service of a certain speed.

If you are a business , you should be going for the fastest line of the lot , namely a 4MB line , and you should be paying around R200 per month for 3GB of bandwidth .

Now , here's the mathematical part .... take the comparative uncapped ADSL price ( for a 4MB Line ) , and compare to what you are paying now on average .......the uncapped product when worked out this way should be more expensive.

Please remember that in addition to the Bandwdith that you pay for an ADSL service , there is also a line rental payable to Telkom Monthly  ( depending on the speed of the line - the line rental will range from R150 per month to around R450 per month ) . UNCAPPED ADSL prices generally are in addition to the LINE rental, increasing the overall cost of the UNCAPPED Service.

There are REAL benefits to using the UNCAPPED service for some applications, so before you completely dismiss the UNCAPPED option, if you are still confused , it is best to consult someone that understands the Jargon and does not have any commercial motive, in order to get an objective view relative to your business.

Is it the death of the paperback Novel ?!

The Kindle is upon us, and in our opinion , probably the beginning of the end for paperback novel as we know it .....

Many avid readers are logging on to Amazon.com to purchase the kindle (currently at around US$250)  and kindle books . With it's light weight design, back light and battery power , you can read in bed without disturbing your partner .....believe it or not , this is one of the biggest motives behind the purchase of these neat devices. We found a cool 'layman's' review on this product here
