Most of our users are now back at work after the holiday season, so we hope that this will be a prosperous year for everyone!
We have several software training courses scheduled for the next few months (FE/Pipe, ASME VIII Code, AFT, CAESAR, PVElite), as well as an Intergraph CAU Express Day, where we will have several experts from Intergraph showing the latest software changes and improvements (Caesar, PVElite, Tank, CADWorx).

Intergraph CAESAR 2012 - Pipe Stress Analysis
This is due for release around the end of March 2012, and will include the following features:

B31.3 2010 Code Update (released March 2011).
1) Allowance for "sustained stress" (Sh value from Table A-1) needs to be at the metal temperature of the operating condition being considered. Separate values now need to be selected for sustained and occasional load cases corresponding to T1, T2 etc.
2) The old Code Case 178 for sustained stress calculation, has been made mandatory, and is now included in the basic B31.3 calculation
3) New SIF's have been defined for fittings, for torsion and axial cases
4) New stress allowables have been introduced for Operating case:
OPE=1.5(Sc+Sh), and this is reduced by 15% if Sy/St>0.8
5) Hydrotest allowable is now 90% of Yield Stress
6) Material property updates

Enhancements and Usability Improvements
1) Selection/Manipulation of line numbers as a group
2) Isogen fixes, and update to latest Isogen
3) Changes to graphic tool tips
CAESAR description
PAULIN RESEARCH GROUP (PRG) SOFTWARE CHANGES - FE/PIPE, NOZZLEPRO, AXIPRO, MATPRO
PRG has announced that with immediate effect, they will no longer be selling AXIPRO or MATPRO software as standalone applications. In future, AXIPRO will only be available as part of the FE/PIPE Suite software, and MATPRO will only be available as part of the NOZZLEPRO software. In summary, these are the new products:
FE/PIPE 6.5 - Includes NozzlePro, AxiPro, MatPro, FE661/661PRO, Fitness for Service, NH Reporting, Buckling. FE/PIPE Maintenance plan also includes access to PCL-Gold Pipe Stress Program, FE107, FESIF, FEBend, FETee. If maintenance is allowed to expire, access to these modules will also expire.

NOZZLEPRO 8.5 - Includes MatPro, Fitness for Service, NH Reporting. NozzlePro Maintenance also includes access to FE107 and FESIF. If maintenance is allowed to expire, access to these modules will also expire.

Intergraph CAESAR II webinar: Dynamic Piping Analysis Part 2: Harmonics
Cyclic loads of even small magnitude can damage piping systems and most shaking pipe is a cause for concern. CAESAR II can be used to replicate piping response to these harmonic loads. Once the computer model matches the physical system, the model can be confidently adjusted to de-tune the response. The focus here is this forcing-frequency-to-natural-frequency ratio and not on evaluating a calculated fatigue stress amplitude. This webinar will develop the CAESAR II input required for harmonic analysis and the engineering concepts involved.
