EC LOGISTICS - Consultants & Trainers Website : www.eclogistics.co.za Email : training@eclogistics.co.za SANS 10231 : 2010 Edition 3.1 Operational Requirements This standard was updated and published on the 13 May 2010 by SABS There were numerous amendments to this standard The main amendments affected the role of the Qualified Person and the Dangerous Goods Driver A Qualified Person is any person who either Administratively or Physically carries out any task related to Dangerous Goods , these persons are required to receive training With immediate effect ALL DRIVERS irrespective of the type and size of vehicle must receive training by an accredited service provider on an ANNUAL basis SANS 10231 - Clause 4.3.1 Previously only applied this requirement to drivers of vehicles with a G V M over 3500 kg Amendment was also made to the Dangerous Goods Declaration requirement In total there were over 20 amendments that affected various role players SANS 10231 also references the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 with special reference to : Section 8 General duties of employers to their employees Section 16 Chief Executive Officer charged with certain duties The OSH Act also references : Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Substances Clause 3 : Information & Training Regulations for Hazardous Biological Agents Clause 4 : Information & Training We have updated our training programmes and have included all relevant changes These training courses are offered to personnel who are assigned the following tasks : · Management , Supervisory staff · Client / Staff liason · Creation of any documentation connected with the transport and warehousing · Dangerous Goods Drivers · Classify dangerous goods and identify Proper Shipping Names of dangerous goods · Pack dangerous goods · Mark , label & placard dangerous goods · Load / Unload Cargo Transport Units · Prepare transport documents for dangerous goods · Offer dangerous goods for transport · Accept dangerous goods for transport · Handle dangerous goods in transport · Prepare dangerous goods loading / stowage plans · Load / Unload dangerous goods into / from ships · Carry dangerous goods in transport · Enforce or survey or inspect for compliance with applicable rules and regulations · Are otherwise involved in the transport of Dangerous Goods as determined by the competent authority The following training programmes are presented by our company to assist clients and their staff to comply with regulatory training This applies to all persons undertaking any activity regarding Dangerous Goods We have a training centre in Johannesburg , we also travel to client premises throughout South Africa as well as all Southern African countries EC Logistics has the following accreditations : Company : Department of Transport ( DoT ) PrDP ( D ) 2009/32 Company : Transport Education Training Authority ( TETA ) - Reg No TETA08-186 Moderator : E Crane TETA Registration No : TETA-MODR09-264 Assessor : E Crane TETA Registration No : TETA-ASSR08-1689 Assessor : S Merensky TETA Registration No : TETA-ASSR09-2422 ETDP SETA Accreditation no : 696226US

The seminars consist of a detailed explanation of the new Dangerous Goods Legislation including guidelines to being compliant of this legislation. A certificate of Competence is issued to the delegates passing the Pr-DP-D Courses after successfully completing a Theoretical & Practical examination.
