How your small business can survive and prosper in tough times
Just as good economic times do not guarantee business success, hard times do not doom a business to failure. Certainly, you have to be savvy to survive and flourish in times when others are not doing well. Below are several tips you can use to weather the storm and stay afloat in these tough economic times:

1. Cut costs but not quality - it may be tempting to let your products or services slide a little because it is difficult to keep up with your high standards at the same or possibly even lower selling price to your customers. This is definitely not the place to cut costs in order to save money. Shop around for the least expensive business tools and services which do not compromise the quality of your products or services. Keep an eye on your utility bills and do not take unnecessary business trips

2. Buy in quantity when possible - you are often able to negotiate better pricing from your suppliers if you order large quantities. You can then pass the savings on to your customers without losing any profit. This can attract new customers and make your regular customers happy

3. Vary your sales often - it is easy to put up a sale or special offer on your website and leave it for an indefinite period of time. After all, you will always have new visitors to your website. However, if you change your sale or special offer products or services frequently, your regular customers may purchase them and may even decide to purchase items that not even on sale or special offer. Some customers will only purchase on sale or special offer, but they will be so excited about the savings that they will spread the word about your company's great website

4. Appreciate your customers - give your regular customers special perks for being loyal to your business. Send them emails with discount vouchers to get great deals on your products or services, give them free delivery if they order a minimum amount and have a customer appreciation sale. 5. Discontinue unpopular products - if you have products or services on your website that have never been ordered, discontinue them right away.
