DAILY WORD – FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2008

ISAIAH 42:3 --- A BRUISED REED HE WILL NOT BREAK, AND A DIMLY BURNING WICK HE WILL NOT QUENCH; HE WILL BRING FORTH JUSTICE IN TRUTH

FEEL LIKE YOUR LIGHT IS GOING OUT?

There have been times in my life that this scripture has been a lifeline to me. We live in crazy times, pressure, anxiety, depression, seem to be the order of the day, and in fact depression has been cited as the epidemic of the 21^st century.

I know I am not the only person who has said ‘stop the world I want to get off’ when the demands of everyday life have just felt too much to cope with. And it is in times such as these that Satan comes with words of condemnation saying ‘where’s your faith now’ and ‘your supposed to be so strong’ and then the great question that he has been asking since Adam and Eve walked in the garden ‘did God really say’?

 At this stage, he tries to get us to doubt every promise God has ever given us, saying ‘that can’t possibly be for you, it must be for someone else not you, your not good enough’. Sound familiar? At this point we often make the mistake of actually considering all these lies, we then start withdrawing and slowly start to feel battered and bruised as if the very light of our lives is going out.

All the above is the reason I love this scripture so much, as during some of the darkest periods of my life, when I felt useless to the Lord and the people in my life, the Holy Spirit has guided me to this scripture. In Gods kingdom there are no throw away people, and when you feel so bruised and battered that you have no strength left to even speak or pray, you have a God that has promised that He will not let your light go out.

Today it is written for you ‘HE WILL ADORN THE WRETCHED WITH VICTORY’ (psalm 149:4)

He will do it. He will do it!!!!!  He will lift you out; He will clothe you in His victory. He will never, never dump you on the scrapheap of humanity.

We cannot ‘work’ the Word; we need to ‘rest’ in it.
