We tend to perceive courage as a knight in shining armour going out to conquer the world but there are times in our lives when it takes courage just to face the day.

Feeling overwhelmed does not make us ‘failed heroes’ – rather it makes us more aware of our human frailty and need for a hero to carry us through the ‘battlefields’ of our every day lives.

It’s easy to play the ‘bravado game’ but it takes real courage to look in the mirror with an honest eye, and it takes courage to ‘let go and let God’ in the midst of the storm.

When these types of days come our way, we need to remember that we have a hero, a saviour, a champion and friend – His name is Jesus, and because of Him we can lay our heads down at night and rest in the knowledge that, in Him, each day is new, and what we don’t overcome today we will have the opportunity to overcome tomorrow.
