Daily word Friday 2nd October 2009 

 Make sure that when you eat and are satisfied, build pleasant houses and settle in, see your herds and flocks flourish and more and more money come in, watch your standard of living going up and up—make sure you don't become so full of yourself and your things that you forget God, your God Deuteronomy 8:10-12 

When things are tough it’s easy to turn to God, as that’s when we need His intervention the most, but what about the seasons of plenty? How easy it is in times of abundance to forget where are blessings came from in the first place; how quickly we become so busy enjoying our good fortune that we forget our relationship with our Heavenly Father. 

We need to remember that material wealth can be here today and gone tomorrow and to be honest how many people don’t we encounter in life who ‘have it all’ but are dreadfully unhappy and unfulfilled. 

When we take God out of the equation, we become nothing more than ‘mice on the treadmill of life’ becoming the sum of what ‘we have’ and not ‘who we are’ in Christ. And all too soon all our peace is gone replaced by nothing more than the drive to survive. 

At the end of the day true wealth comes from our relationship with God and is never dependant on our physical circumstances, for true wealth is that ‘peace that surpasses all understanding’ no matter where we may find ourselves today!
