Daily Word – Wednesday 15 July 2009 

 If God hadn't been there for me, 
      I never would have made it. 
   The minute I said, "I'm slipping, I'm falling," 
      your love, God, took hold and held me fast. 
   When I was upset and beside myself, 
      you calmed me down and cheered me up. Psalm 94:17-19 (The Message) 

It’s never God that lets go of us but rather we that let go of Him. 

Sometimes when times are tough and we feel overwhelmed by the ‘tide of circumstances’ we stop trusting in what God is doing and attempt, in our own strength, to ‘swim upstream’, trying to return to the place we have been swept from, the place we felt safe in. 

Panic sets in and instead of resting in Gods steadfast love we grab at every ‘piece of driftwood’ hoping to keep our ‘heads above the water’. 

When we feel ourselves slipping into ‘deep water’ we need to reach up into the hands of God, and not outwards trying to brace ourselves against the things that surround us. 

It is God who will bring us into ‘calm waters’ --- and sometimes it is God in the first place who throws us into the deep water to force us out of our comfort zones and into a newer and better place. 

So no matter what the reason for your circumstances today, remember God will never let you go!
