Daily Word – Tuesday 7 July 2009

When down-and-outers get a break, cheer! And when the arrogant rich are brought down to size, cheer! Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don't ever count on it. You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. Well, that's a picture of the "prosperous life." At the very moment everyone is looking on in admiration, it fades away to nothing. James 1:9-11 (The Message) 

I am tired off the ‘Christian Culture’ that has arisen in recent years that subscribes to the belief that material wealth = spiritual growth. 

I am tired of ‘Christian elitism’ in churches – where senior church officials cultivate relationships with the ‘rich and famous’ -- where church leaders become ‘the untouchables’ surrounded by their little group of ‘bodyguards’ 

I am tired of seeing ordinary people like you and I hurt and made to feel ‘spiritually inferior’ by an arrogant, out of balance prosperity gospel. 

Man has over centuries manipulated Gods Word from a gospel that preached humble poverty = Godliness, to worldly wealth = Godliness. Both being unbalanced and destructive to Gods people. 

RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST = SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND GODLINESS!  It’s never about how much money or worldly status we have or do not have, but about living each and every day ‘in Christ’

Regardless of our circumstances or positions in life! 

True prosperity is knowing God, in the best and worst of times; relying on His goodness and grace to bring us through whatever life throws at us, and remembering to share the richness of Gods blessings with those around us, in whatever form those blessings may take!
