ROOTS

BUT BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO TRUSTS IN THE LORD AND HAS MADE THE LORD HIS HOPE AND CONFIDENCE. HE IS LIKE A TREE PLANTED ALONG A RIVERBANK, WITH ITS ROOTS REACHING DEEP INTO THE WATER – A TREE NOT BOTHERED BY THE HEAT NOR WORRIED BY LONG MONTHS OF DROUGHT. IT’S LEAVES STAY GREEN AND IT GOES RIGHT ON PRODUCING ALL ITS LUCIOUS FRUIT. JEREMIAH 17:7+8 (living bible)

God never said we wouldn’t face troubles (seasons of drought) but He has promised that if our very being (roots) are planted in Him and His word we will press through the problems in life still producing good things. To often our root system is embedded in the world system, and we feed on and depend on what it can give us, and then, when the system fails us, we fall apart. We have to have our roots deep in the rivers of living water (the Holy Spirit). Our dependence for our very life force must be in our God alone, anything else will eventually bring disappointment into our hearts.
