It is all too often the little things that trip us up and cause us to fall, but it is also the little things, when overcome, that build character in our lives.

Remaining calm and patient in queues

Speaking a kind word to someone who irritates you

Blessing that person who cuts in front of you with their car

Responding to a cutting comment with a kind word etc etc

The list of little things that have the capacity to trip us up every day is endless, but as we learn to respond to these situations in the right spirit, we grow in character, and we grow in Christ and in His love.

So today don’t let the ‘little foxes’ rob you of your love walk!

About Phillips Brooks

Phillips Brooks, the American clergyman now mostly known for writing the words to the Christmas song, "O Little Town of Bethlehem," was one of the most influential ministers of his time, with his sermons reprinted in major newspapers. He delivered the eulogy at Abraham Lincoln's funeral. Born in Boston in 1835, he spent most of his life there as overseer of Harvard University, rector of Trinity Church, and bishop of Massachusetts. He died in 1893, and the day of his funeral was declared an official day of mourning.
