DAILY WORD – WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER 2008
PROVERBS 20:24 --- SINCE THE LORD IS DIRECTING OUR STEPS, WHY TRY TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS ALONG THE WAY? (LIVING TRANSLATION) So often, the need to know the reason for everything keeps us tied to our past, especially our past mistakes. How many times don’t we replay an event or conversation wishing we could change the outcome? This mental re-hashing robs us of Gods rest, and effectively traps us in the past, preventing us from moving forward. We need to rest in the knowledge that our God is directing our steps, and yes sometimes He brings us back to the same crossroads because we made the wrong choice the first time round; but that’s the point He brings us back, He directs our steps. If I had understood this truth years ago, it would have saved me much wasted time agonizing at the fact that I had gone in a complete circle. Instead, I would have rested in the knowledge that God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, was giving me another opportunity to make the right decision and get back on the right path. So don’t stress about where you’ve found yourself right now, but celebrate where He’s taking you, even if today you’re not sure of the destination! Stay fervently focused Much love Chrissy
