DAILY WORD – TUESDAY 26 AUGUST 2008

KNOW, RECOGNIZE, AND UNDERSTAND THEREFORE THAT THE LORD YOUR GOD, HE IS GOD, THE FAITHFUL GOD, WHO KEEPS COVENANT AND STEADFAST LOVE AND MERCY WITH THOSE WHO LOVE HIM AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, TO A THOUSAND GENERATIONS. (DEUTERONOMY 7:9)

We serve a God who keeps covenant, He is not a man, He does not lie, deceive, break promises, or abandon us.

He is faithful, full of grace and mercy, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, able to save and keep to a thousand generations.

 He is the great ‘I AM’

He’s not the ‘I was’ or the ‘I’m going to be’. He is your ‘I AM’ today, this hour, this minute, this moment!

So what stands in our way today? Is it wrong mindsets or rebellious attitudes? Do we serve another God and if so who?

One of our biggest problems is that too often we want to serve and gratify the great ‘I’ and not the great ‘I AM’!!!!

I have learnt, from painful experience, that at times when my life spirals out of control, it is sometimes because I am serving my own desires, ambitions and stubborn attitudes.

I am so glad that we don’t serve a God of our yesterdays with all their mistakes. I am so, so grateful that our tomorrows are not dependant on our yesterdays, but on His faithfulness and mercy.

So what does God want from us? Love and obedience, and even in that He has promised to give us both the desire and ability to do His will (Philippians 2:13).

So what then, is left for us to do today? 

REST AND TRUST AND KNOW THAT HE IS ABLE……..

Able to do far more than you or I could ask or imagine; far beyond our mistakes, disappointments, hurts and failures.
