Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall

All the Kings horses and all the Kings men

Couldn’t put Humpty together again

Most of us will remember this nursery rhyme from our childhood, but many of us spend our lives like Humpty Dumpty, sitting on ‘the fence’ of life, not quite sure of our beliefs, wavering between faith and doubt, depending on our circumstances at any given time.

The thing is that, like Humpty Dumpty, we can’t sit on the wall all the time just hoping that if we passively watch life pass us by we will be safe, as eventually no matter how passive we try to remain something or someone will knock us off our wall.

And then as we sit amid the shattered pieces of our lives we will discover that, as in the case of Humpty Dumpty, all the Kings horses and all the Kings men cant put our lives back together again.

Only The King of kings can restore that which life has shattered and He has called us to be like trees planted firmly in Him with our roots buried deep in His Word and watered by the streams of living water.

If we can just take that leap off the wall today and throw ourselves into Gods hands, He will plant us firmly in His garden, fed on His Word and watered by the Holy Spirit and we will become strong in Him and His power and grace, full of the blossom of His peace, which surpasses all understanding.

So what would you rather be today, a Strong Tree or Humpty Dumpty?

"But blessed is the man who trusts me, God,
   the woman who sticks with God.
They're like trees replanted in Eden,
   putting down roots near the rivers—
Never a worry through the hottest of summers,
   never dropping a leaf,
Serene and calm through droughts,
   bearing fresh fruit every season.
