Daily Word One handful of peaceful repose is better than two fistfuls of worried work— more spitting into the wind. It is interesting that in this scripture ‘worried work’ is likened to ‘spitting in the wind’. But just think what happens if we spit into the wind --- well of course we all know that our spit will end up on our own faces. In the same way, worrying and fretting over things affects us, not the circumstances or situations that surround us. In fact, worrying is more likely to make things worse because our reactions and thought processes become more negative. ‘Peaceful repose’ is what we need in such times; that peace that stops us chasing our tails and allows us to rest in the knowledge that our God holds our lives in the palm of His hand, and that there is nothing happening in or around our lives that He is unaware of. And where is this peace to be found? In Christ; in His love and grace, in His faithfulness and understanding, and in the knowledge that His salvation is there for us each and every day!
