So don't you see that we don't owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent? There's nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God's Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!

Romans 8:12-14 (The Message)

We live in a society full of self help ---- books, seminars, TV and radio programs etc. etc.

So how long will we continue to buy into the theory that we can ‘do it ourselves’, that we stand alone in this universe and that our future depends entirely on our own efforts?

How long will we continue to struggle, wondering what our purpose is in life, and how long will it take us to realize that self effort brings nothing more than either disappointment and failure, or alternatively, when things do work out, pride and a false sense of self importance?

God has called us to bury the old ‘do-it-yourself’ life and instead live the new ‘do-it in Christ’ life. In this life there are neither failures nor puffed up successes.

For when we live in Christ, He turns our failures into victories, and our victories establish His glory and not ours!
