DAILY WORD TUESDAY 11 SEPT 2007 Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children [do not be hard on them or harass them], lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated. [Do not break their spirit.] Colossians 3:21 (Amplified Bible)
When we read this scripture we immediately relate it to the parenting of our biological children, but as I read the verse this morning, the Holy Spirit started to speak to me about our spiritual children, those whom God has placed under our authority. So what does the word authority imply? Is it control, manipulation, dictatorship, judgment etc? Well that is certainly abusive authority, but we don’t serve an abusive God, but a God full of love and mercy, compassion and care. When God entrusts us with the leading and mentorship of others, we have to have the Fathers heart, and that heart --- loves, encourages, builds up, protects and covers, and wants nothing more than to see those He entrusts us with, growing and blossoming into everything God destined them to be.
Stay fervently focused, Much love,
Chrissy
