Daily Word – Wednesday 11 April 2007

  If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.   [1 Corinthians 13:1-7]

Love is not the easy choice we like to think it is, and let’s face it, even those who are in the closest relationships with us can be hard to love at times.

It is so easy to lash out when someone hurts us, or to seek revenge for a wrong done, or to just simply dislike someone for no apparent reason, but Gods Word tells us clearly that without love everything we do or say is of no value, just good works and hot air.

So how on earth, in a world to full of offensive people and situations, do we succeed in walking in love? The answer of course is that we can’t; we can’t walk in love in our own strength, we can’t love the unlovable with our flawed human understanding and emotions.

The only way we can truly love the way God wants us to, is to live ‘IN CHRIST’, rooted deeply in His character, strength and grace. In Him all things are possible; ‘IN HIM’ love really can change the world!

Love someone today ---------   Live ‘IN CHRIST’ -------- not crisis!!!!
