Daily Word – Thursday 22 March 2007

I will try to walk a blameless path, but how I need Your help, especially in my own home, where I long to act as I should. [Psalm 101:2]

Often it is in our own homes that we need the most help to live a Christ-like life. The people who live with us are, all too often, the ones that see the worst of us, and the reason for this is simply, that no one can keep up an act forever so those closest to us experience the cracks in the mask first.

David, who wrote the above psalm, new better than anyone that this was true and he definitely blew it with God big time, especially where his personal relationships were concerned. And yet God continued to forgive him, guide him and honour him throughout his life and the reason why? Because he knew that without God he was one big failure waiting to happen; he knew that he needed to keep turning to God for help, and that this meant he would have stay honest with God ‘warts and all’.

Like David, we need to cry to our Lord for help, especially in our homes where without the Grace of God we will just keep making the same old mistakes.

LIVE ‘IN CHRIST’ NOT CRISIS ------ BELIEVE ‘THE WORD’ NOT ‘THE WORLD’!!!!!
