Daily Word – Tuesday 16 January 2007

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me. [Psalm 51:10]

 A good way to start our day would be to pray ‘Lord, create in me a new heart’, as many times the things that get us into trouble are the wrong motives, agendas and attitudes in our hearts; and we defiantly need a persevering and steadfast spirit in order to walk in the ways of God and not the flesh.

So how do we see what’s really in our hearts? Easy just check out our reactions, as it is in our reactions that we will see what we really think and feel, no matter what our outer demeanor may be.

Are you smiling on the outside while seething on the inside? Do you speak kind words to someone who you feel dislike and resentment towards? Do you take a back seat while ambition burns at your soul? Do you feign contentment while envying those who have what you don’t?

If we are truthful we have all experienced at least one of the above examples at sometime in our lives; and so my cry every day? ‘Lord change my heart, that I might be more like you’.

Today let go and let God!!!!
