Daily Word – Monday 15 January 2007

But this precious treasure --- this light and power that now shines within us --- is held in a perishable container, that is, in our weak bodies. Everyone can see that the glorious power within must be from God and is not our own.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.  [2 Corinthians 4:7-10]

Nowhere in the Word of God does it tell us that we will never experience problems, but we do have the assurance that we will not be defeated by them. Yes we do get knocked down, and there are times we struggle because we don’t understand what God is doing in our lives. There are times that we feel that the whole ‘world’ is hunting us down and we go through times when we struggle against doubt and fear, yet in the midst  of all of this we have Gods promise that He will NEVER abandon us.

It is His power that enables us to get up and keep going, and it is His presence in us that brings understanding. Think about it, how many times in the past have you gone through a dry and difficult season only to, at a later time, look back and see clearly what God was doing in your life. And I know in my own life that God has opened doors for me to share His faithfulness with others who have shown amazement at the fact that Bernard and I have managed to keep going through some extremely difficult and painful times.

So, whether in the good times or bad times, let us never stop praising our God, knowing that He Is faithful and true and that He will finish the work He has started in our lives.

Believe ‘THE WORD’ not ‘the world’!!!!
