Daily Word – Tuesday 05 December 2006Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?" [Romans 15:1-2]
Leadership does not mean Lordship and yet all too often in todays church systems leaders are unavailable to many members of the congregation. Now I do understand that in the very large churches it is not always possible to connect with everyone but as leaders we need to be wary of isolating ourselves from the people around us. We have an enemy that will find every opportunity to bring us down, and isolation leads to elitism which in turn leads to pride. I have lived long enough to see people of strong character and personality placed into leadership roles, only to become full of their own sense of status and importance, slowly falling into an attitude of condescension when dealing with the folks placed under their care. And if you are sitting reading this and saying to yourself ‘I don’t do that’ think again, when was the last time you heard about someones problem only to think ‘I haven’t got time for that, I’ve got bigger things to deal with’? Sound at all familiar? Leading and mentoring others are positions of service not status! We have to stay connected and in tune with the heartbeat of the people or we will end up in a place where, while we are trying to climb the religious ‘corporate ladder’, we will slowly lose the very flock God entrusted us to care for.
So today, take time to touch someones life!!! Have a tuned-in Tuesday, Much love Chrissy Visit us on our new chat room - http://worshiphim.co.za/chat/phpMyChat.php3WRITE TO US AT - P.O. Email us on: info@worshiphim.co.za Visit us on our updated web page http://www.worshiphim.co.za
