Daily Word – Tuesday 14 November 2006We Long for Light but Sink into Darkness Look! Listen! God's arm is not amputated—he can still save.
The whole of Christianity, the whole of Christian living can be summed up in one word – RELATIONSHIP; first our relationship with The Lord and then our relationships with one another. Anything less than relationship is religion not Christianity, and make no mistake, religion judges, discourages, breaks down and finally kills. So how does this relate to the scripture above? Our problems are more often, not so much about our circumstances but our reaction to them. I know in my own life there have been times that, when things have been bad, instead of pushing deeper into my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I have found myself looking around at others whose lives seem so trouble free. Suddenly all their flaws in character and lifestyle, become glaringly obvious, and if I am not careful I can, all too soon, become offended at God saying in my heart things like ‘how come they have it so easy when they are doing ---- whatever’, and so my relationship with God becomes more and more fragmented as I wonder why I cannot hear Him and He seems so far away. We have to understand that it’s all about our relationship with God and not what other people are doing or not doing. One of the most dangerous things we can do is to take our eyes off of God and become focused on what others are doing, for then we cease to walk in love and instead walk in offense. So today, let’s keep our hearts and heads focused on our walk with the Lord and what we need to let Him do in our lives, quickly forgiving the faults and flaws of others.
