Daily Word – Thursday 26 October 2006But whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this is what makes a man unclean and defiles [him]. For out of the heart come evil thoughts (reasonings and disputings and designs) such as murder, adultery, sexual vice, theft, false witnessing, slander, and irreverent speech. These are what make a man unclean and defile [him]; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him unclean or defile [him]. [Matthew 15:18-20] Time and time again in the Old Testament we see that whenever Gods people defiled the temple, one of the results of their behaviour was that their enemies overpowered them and, on occasions, they ended up in total captivity. In the scripture above, Jesus makes it very clear that it is not the absence of religious rituals that defile us, but rather the destructive attitudes we hide in our hearts, and it makes sense that if we leave these things unresolved we give our enemy Satan a foothold into our lives. In fact if we refuse to even acknowledge our heart condition let alone let the Lord deal with it, we run the very real risk of ending up in total captivity, felling constantly attacked from all sides. So the answer? We need to take a deep, honest look into our hearts for those little resentments, unforgiving and judgmental attitudes, desires for revenge or to critically dissect someone life etc. So today, let the LOVE of GOD be shed abroad in your hearts, and be quick to let go of those things that would bind you. Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, [Corinthians 6:19] Have a thoughtful Thursday, Much love, Chrissy. Email us on: info@worshiphim.co.za Visit us on our updated web page http://www.worshiphim.co.za
