Daily Word – Wednesday 25 October 2006

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. [John 14:27]

The peace that the world gives is a warm, fuzzy feeling of contentment when everything is going our way. The problem with this type of peace is that it is totally dependant on our circumstances; as soon as troubles and challenges arrive the peace goes out of the window.

Gods’ peace, however, is the peace that keeps you going when your world is falling down around your feet; the peace that helps you find something to be thankful for in the desolate places, and the peace that gives you the power to praise God in and through ALL circumstances.

This wonderful, powerful, glorious ‘PEACE’ enables us to hold on, when every fibre of our being wants to let go and give up. It is this peace that, in the most fearful of times, speaks to the depths of our hearts, assuring us that no matter how crazy life gets, HE is still holding us in the palm of HIS hands.
