DAILY WORD – WEDNESDAY 30 AUGUST 2006

So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God's family with you, the believers]. [Galatians 6:10]

We are all called to do good to others, to be a blessing doing what is beneficial to others even when it doesn’t necessarily benefit us. But in a world that teaches the principle of ‘me first’ sometimes our motives become clouded by the fleshy desire to look after ‘number 1’ first.

What does caring for others really cost us, time, thoughtfulness, commitment, compassion, love? How often do we say that we haven’t got the time, but let’s consider how much time it really takes to touch someones life with a kind word, a gentle touch or even just a smile? These are all things that we can do so easily each and every day. So don’t say ‘I have nothing to give’ for the greatest gift of all is to just touch someone with the love of God!

So whose life will you touch today?
