Daily Word – Monday 28 August 2006

 The Way of Love                         [1 CORINTHIANS 13: 1-7]

 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

   Love never gives up.  ---   KEEPS GOING EVEN IN THE VALLEYS

   Love cares more for others than for self. ---    IS NOT MANIPULATIVE

   Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.  – IS NOT ENVIOUS OR JEALOUS BUT CONTENT AND GRATEFUL

   Love doesn't strut,
   doesn’t have a swelled head, ---- IS NOT PROUD AND ARROGANT

   Doesn't force itself on others,   ----    DOES NOT PRACTICE   ABUSIVE AUTHORITY

   Isn't always "me first," ----   DOES’NT HAVE A FALSE NEED TO BE SET APART OR HONOURED

   Doesn't fly off the handle, ---   IS NOT ANGRY, AGGRESSIVE OR ABUSIVE

   Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, ---   DOES’NT THROW UP PEOPLES PAST BUT CONSTANTLY FORGIVES

    Doesn't revel when others grovel, ---- NEVER ENJOYS PEOPLES PAIN EVEN IF IT SEEMS THEY DESERVE WHAT THEY’VE GOT

   Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, ---   LIVES IN THE LIGHT AND NEVER GETS INVOLVED WITH DECEPTIONS

   Puts up with anything, ---    ALWAYS EXTENDS GRACE AND TRUSTS WHAT GOD IS DOING

   Trusts God always, ---     IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES

   Always looks for the best, ----   ALWAYS BUILDS UP OTHERS AND SEES WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY DONE

   Never looks back, ----- LEAVES THE PAST BEHIND AND MOVES INTO GODS FUTURE

   But keeps going to the end. ----    DAY BY DAY STEP BY STEP WALKING WITH JESUS EMPOWERED BY HIS GRACE

So how do you measure up today?
