O God, I beg two favors from you before I die. First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. [Proverbs 30: 7-9] If someone came to you and offered you a million bucks, would you gladly take it or reject the offer? Well, most of us would grab the money and run with it. A lot of people would love to millionaires. That explains all the game shows on the tube, were people compete for that big cash prize waiting at the finish line. Jesus warns us that a lust for money can destroy. For when we have everything, we could turn away from God. We could forget that God is the supplier of our needs and desires.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to get into the Proverbs 30 verse 7 9 shows us a much healthier attitude towards money. It is the perfect prayer to pray for our money matters. Let us be content with what we have. For we dont want our lust for fame and fortune to ultimately destroy us do we?
Nadia The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the Good News, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life and the lure of wealth, so no crop is produced. The good soil represents the hearts of those who truly accept Gods message and produce a huge harvest thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planned.
