DAILY WORD – MONDAY 17 JULY 2006

 And these God-chosen lives all around—
      what splendid friends they make!  [Psalm 16:3]

Not only has God promised to be with us always but He has also provided us with friends who encourage us and impact our lives. I can think of many times, when feeling down and discouraged, the phone has rung or there has been a knock at the door and a friend was there. And what about the times you have had a prompting to contact someone only to find they really needed a friend at that moment. God never created us to be islands but often, when feeling low, we isolate ourselves, withdrawing from the very people who can walk with us during the difficult times in life. We become afraid to be vulnerable with one another, feeling as Christians we must keep up an appearance of strength, but these are the times we most need one another, most need to hold one another up in love and prayer.

So look around --- is there someone near you who needs a friend today?
