Daily Word – Tuesday 11 July 2006

Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: "Bless me, O bless me! Give me land, large tracts of land. And provide your personal protection—don't let evil hurt me." God gave him what he asked.

 [1 Chronicles 4:10]

Why is it that we tend to feel that we shouldn’t ask God to bless us? We know we should be praying for Gods blessings over the lives of others but tend to feel guilty for asking for ourselves, as if in some way we are being selfish. And yet we so desperately need Gods blessing over our daily lives, His grace, His provision, His protection and most surely His direction. Without these we would just stumble along through life trying in our own strength to walk in victory, constantly messing up, always feeling we’re failing as Christians.

Our God wants to bless us, protect us, provide for us, lead and direct us! And how today can we possibly give out to others that which we haven’t yet received ourselves?

So let’s start this day at the feet of Jesus and let Him fill us with everything we need to ‘live’ today!
