Daily Word – Friday 23 June 2006And while they were there, Cain attacked and killed his brother. [Genesis 4:8] Can you believe that the first man to be born was also the first man to commit murder! He killed his little brother because of anger and jealousy. When God confronted Cain, he even tried to lie and hide the fact that he had slaughtered his own flesh and blood. God punished Cain severely for what he had done – but at the same time He forgave and protected Cain from being killed himself. The Lord replied, “They will not kill you, for I will give seven times your punishment to anyone who does.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain to warn anyone who might try to kill him.[Genesis 4:15] Why would God protect a killer? Because even though Cain was a murderer, God still loved him! God set us the example of forgiveness from the start, so that we can forgive people too - no matter how badly they have hurt or disappointed us! God loves you so much! There is nothing you can do to make God stop loving you! When you ask for forgiveness, He will always forgive and protect you! Isn’t it time to put your anger and disappointments aside and forgive those around you? Let’s have a forgiving heart today! Much love, Nadia Then Peter came to Him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me seven times?” “ No!” Jesus replied, “seventy times seven!”[Matthew 18:21 –23]
