Daily word – Monday 12 June 2006

Great crowds were following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, “If you want to be my follower you must love Me more than your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me”. [Luke 14: 25 –28]

Jesus wants us to be His follower. He wants us to follow Him unconditionally. He is reminding us that our human relationships should never hold us back from our faith in Him. Sometimes the cost of this can be high, but remember that the rewards are wonderful.

Are you a fully committed disciple for Jesus, or do you follow him when it suites you?
