DAILY WORD – MONDAY 08 MAY 2006

Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honour and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. [Romans1:21]

How often aren’t we plagued by vain imaginings? How much time don’t we waste with the, what if’s, allowing images of all the possible negatives to permeate our minds?

God’s word tells us that indulging in vain imaginings causes our walk to become futile as our minds become slowly darkened with stupid speculations and foolish worldly reasonings.

So what is the answer to the problem? How to we deal with the invasion of our minds by vain imaginings?

By honouring, glorifying and thanking God!

If we fill our minds with godly images, images of Gods goodness and glory, and set our hearts and mouths to thanksgiving, choosing to replace the negative lies of the enemy with the living Word of God, our minds will be filled with the light of the knowledge of God and darkness will have to flee.  

So this week, let us stubbornly refuse to entertain vain imaginings and rather fix our minds firmly on our God and His Word!

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on earth. [Colossians 3:2]
