DAILY WORD – FRIDAY 28 APRIL 2006 AT ALL TIMES AND FOR EVERYTHING GIVING THANKS IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST TO GOD OUR FATHER. [EPHESIANS 5:20] BE THANKFUL! Thanksgiving is a great weapon against the works of the enemy. Giving thanks even in the bad times prevents us opening our hearts to offence towards God. This statement may shock you, as you think that you could not possibly be offended with God, but how many times don’t we experience disappointment when God doesn’t do something in the way we expected, and how often don’t we question God and what we perceive He is or isn’t doing. When we feel someone hasn’t come through for us in the way we wanted we become offended, sometimes without even realizing it. OUR GOD IS NOT A GOD OF FORMULAS BUT A GOD OF RELATIONSHIP! Too often we think that if we do a, b, and c, God will automatically follow with the d. The problem with this type of thinking is that it is legalistically based and not relationally based, and so we get upset and offended. WE SEEK HAPPINESS INSTEAD OF JOY! Happiness is dependent on happenings. When nice things happen we get happy, but when bad things happen we angry, fretful, discouraged and disappointed. On the other hand, when we determine to continue with an attitude of thankfulness, whether the times be good or bad, a spirit of joy is released over our lives and we are able to rest in the knowledge of our God and His love for us. So today, take a moment to think on all the things you have to be thankful for, all the good things God has done and all the difficult times He has already bought you through. And then lift your heart towards His throne, open your mouth and give thanks!
ENTER HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING! Have a joyful Friday Much love CHRISSY
