DAILY WORD – TUESDAY 04 APRIL 2006

OBEY THE KING AS YOU HAVE VOWED TO DO.DONT ALWAYS BE TRYING TO GET OUT OF DOING YOUR DUTY, EVEN WHEN ITS UNPLEASENT. [ECCLESIASTES 8:2]

Most of us have grown up in a culture of rebellion. Television, radio, news media and music, in todays world, are all instruments used to promote rebellion; and to such an extent that, a lot of the time, we don’t even realize how greatly all this input influences us.

Submission in todays society has become a dirty word that we think of as meaning – giving up our freedom or allowing someone else to control us when in fact, rebellion is the most evil of all masters we could ever possibly serve, being insatiable and not satisfied until it has bought about our complete destruction.

Despite all of this knowledge however, how often when challenged by God to walk in obedience to His word in an area we may be struggling with, don’t we respond with comments like:- ‘I don’t feel like it’ or ‘I don’t want to’ or maybe ‘this is just too much for me right now’ or even ‘I cant’? And how often haven’t we all promised God something only to, when ‘the going gets tough’, try and get out of our promise?

The thing is, that when God asks us to do something, He doesn’t ask us to be strong enough, powerful enough, intelligent enough, brave enough, bold enough or any other ‘enough. No! He promises that He will supply everything we need to walk this path, and that His awesome love and grace will be sufficient for us to rise to every challenge we will ever have to face.

So today, let’s not say ‘I can’t’ but rather ‘in and with You Lord I am willing and able’.
