DAILY WORD – THURSDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2006
BUT REMEMBER THIS ---- IF YOU GIVE LITTLE, YOU WILL GET LITTLE. A FARMER WHO PLANTS JUST A FEW SEEDS WILL GET ONLY A SMALL CROP, BUT IF HE PLANTS MUCH HE WILL REAP MUCH. (2 CORINTHIANS 9:6)
SOWING YOUR SEED OR SATISFYING YOUR GREED?
The kingdom of God is based on the principle of giving then receiving; the world however runs on the principle of get it now and pay later. The problem with this is that ‘the pay later’ usually ends up being very costly, not only in financial terms but emotionally, creating enormous stress as
we try to continually to keep on top of our dept.
How often in the past have all of us set our eyes on something we like, and decide we must have, only to ‘cry’ in the following months when we cant make the payments.
And let’s be honest about what motivates these bad choices. It is vanity, the need to have what others have, to be better dressed, have showier homes, smarter cars etc.
We humans are, by nature, greedy not only for material things but often emotionally too. We crave attention, someone to love us, comfort us, complement us, pat us on the back etc. But even in this we, all too often, look in the wrong direction ending up hurt and bewildered.
The worlds love is not the same as Gods love. The worlds love is self seeking caring little for the other person. Gods love is self- sacrificing thinking first of the other person. God gave to us first by sowing His Son Jesus Christ, that He would reap eternal relationship with us, His beloved creation.
Within the Love of God is everything we need to live victorious lives and when we decide to sow the seed of Gods Love into the lives of others we empower them to walk in victory too.
So what will you be today, a giver or a taker.
Will you sow and reap, or take and weep!
