DAILY WORD – FRIDAY 20 JANUARY 2006

FOR THE WHOLE LAW CAN BE SUMMED UP IN THIS ONE COMMAND; “LOVE OTHERS AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF”. BUT IF INSTEAD OF SHOWING LOVE AMONG YOURSELVESYOU ARE ALWAYS CRITICAL AND CATTY, WATCH OUT! BEWARE OF RUINING EACH OTHER.   (GALATIONS 5:14-15)

We can ruin or restore, the choice is ours!

Love is the greatest gift we can give one another, but the love we need to walk in is ‘agape’ love; Gods love, the love that loves in good times and in bad, the love that overlooks offences and covers the nakedness of others. The love that is quick to forgive and the love that desires to help restore others and not ruin them.

‘How do I ruin others’ you may be thinking? We ruin people every time we come into negative agreement about them with others. When our speech concerning others is motivated by anything less than the desire to see Gods destiny fulfilled in their lives. We ruin people when we pour judgment on their heads instead of compassion, when we put them down instead of building them up.

Christians have many times earned a reputation of being the only army that shoots its own wounded. Feelings of spiritual superiority, selfish motives and judgment of others are all attitudes that will ‘shoot’ the wounded.

As Christians we are all on the same road, but sometimes on that road we may encounter people who have stumbled and fallen into a ditch, or some folks even going in the wrong direction, and at that moment we have a choice to make , do we walk on by, stop with the other spectators and mock, criticize and judge, or do we reach out a hand with the attitude of ‘I’ll walk with you a while until you are strong again’.

Our attitude towards others will affect our altitude in Christ! Do you want to soar with the eagles today, or ‘hen-peck’ with the chickens, the choice is yours! Gods love never fails!
