DAILY WORD – TUESDAY 10 JANUARY 2006
For the scriptures tell us that no one who believes in Christ will ever be disappointed. (EPHESIANS 3:17)
JESUS WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT YOU! And He is always on time!
The world will disappoint us. People will disappointment us.
Possessions will disappoint us. Relationships will disappoint us.
In this life we will have plenty of opportunity every day to be disappointed with something or someone. Our friends will disappoint us, our relatives will disappoint us, our homes, our jobs, our cars, our clothes, the list is endless. Even those in spiritual authority over us will, at some time, probably disappoint us.
In stark contrast to this however, when we are looking to, and trusting in our Lord, He will never disappoint us. He is never early or late but always on time; our problem is, that we want God to function in our lives according to our time frame.
Those of us who live in a westernised society have become too used to instant gratification. If we want something we are told, ‘buy today pay tomorrow’ and we even get frustrated if, when in a restaurant, we have to wait more than 15 minutes for our order. We have become so used to fast foods, that we want our appetites gratified immediately.
The problem with this type of thinking is that we start wanting our spiritual appetites gratified immediately. We have so bought into the worlds system of, ‘if you want it you should have it now’ that we expect God to instantly make our lives perfect when we turn to Him.
Many of us have become like children throwing tantrums when we don’t get what we want straight away. We behave with loving attitudes and spiritual maturity all the while life is going smoothly, and then proceed to ‘throw all our toys out of the cot’ as soon as we face a challenge, spiritually stamping our feet because God didn’t ‘give it to us’ or ‘do it for us’ yesterday.
It is time for us to realize, that Gods Love for us is far greater than our knowledge of Him and His ways!
He knows what we need, how we need it and when we need it. His ways are far better for us than anything we could ever think of, hope for or imagine. We need to stop wasting so much time trying it ‘our way’ before letting God do it ‘His way’. Let’s walk today in His Love instead of our selfish expectations. We are blessed, in and through Him, even when don’t see it straight away!
His love and ways are perfect! Trust Him! He will never disappoint you!
EMBRACE THE ‘LIVING WORD’ NOT THE ‘WORLD’!
Have a believing Tuesday
Much love
