DAILY WORD – THURSDAY 22 DECEMBER 2005

JESUS REPLIED, “YOU ARE SLAVES OF SIN, EVERY ONE OF YOU. AND SLAVES don’t HAVE RIGHTS, BUT THE SON HAS EVERY RIGHT THERE IS! SO IF THE SON SETS YOU FREE YOU WILL INDEED BE FREE”. (JOHN 8:34-36)

SERVITUDE OR SURRENDER?

Servitude and surrender have become two dirty words. The idea of serving others as well as the idea of surrendering to someone causes most people great offence. And yet millions of people daily live as servants to their worldly possessions and slaves to their creditors, not only losing many nights’ sleep but often their marriages and families too.

And how many people do you know who have surrendered their entire personalities to some type of addiction? Funny isn’t it that this type of servitude and surrender has become accepted as part of every day life, but let anyone mention surrendering to the Almighty God and immediately tempers flare and offence is taken.

Well the truth is that man was created to have an intimate relationship with his creator, held firm and safe, in total surrender to the lover of our souls, the Lord of the Universe. But the great deceiver has blinded man to his real needs, instead offering all kinds of satanic substitutes, with the lie that these things will give us the joy and sense of acceptance we all so desperately seek.

How many people do you know, in the world around you, that go from sexual relationship to sexual relationship trying to find the intimacy they so long for, building walls around themselves to hide the pain? What we need to understand, is that the great big void inside each of us can only be filled with the presence of God, and yet we waste years and shed buckets of tears searching in all the wrong places.

Jesus had a name for all these things that enslave us, ‘SIN’, but we want to ‘pretty it up’ and call it anything but what it is. And the wages of sin is death; death to all our hopes and dreams, death to our God created destiny and yes, death to an eternity spent in the presence of God. We are called to Godly surrender and service that sets us free to be, not only blessed ourselves, but a blessing to those around us; to be a living light in this dark world bringing hope, joy and peace. Make the right decision today, turn away from satanic servitude and choose Godly surrender!

SURRENDER! BELIEVE, TRUST IN, SPEAK, AND OBEY ‘THE WORD’
