DAILY WORD – WEDNESDAY 21 DECEMBER 2005
AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US. (JOHN 1:14)
WORDS OR ‘THE WORD’
Christianity is not about words it is about relationship; relationship with the living ‘Word of God’ Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. The Bible without a personal relationship with the author is just another religious book full of words. Words that historically have been used by ‘Christians’ to justify all sorts of diabolical acts, including the attempted annihilation of many peoples, from the time of the crusades down to the holocaust (the Jews did not crucify Jesus, our sin did.
See note at bottom of page). We loosely use the word religious, but we need to remember that the ‘religious’ people of the day in Jesus’ time were the Pharisees, and they were so blinded by the religious keeping of the law that they missed the divine law giver.
Words without relationship equal legalism (religion)
Relationship with ‘The Word’ equals life.
The Bible, where our lives are concerned, is as dead as any other religious book without a personal relationship with the ‘Living God’. Make no mistake, Gods Word, as far as this world is concerned, will come to pass in all its prophetic glory with or without our belief in it, but as many of us through personal experience know, trying to live by the principles and statutes of the Bible, without the empowering presence of
the Holy Spirit in our lives, turns us into either modern day Pharisees full of condemnation and judgment, or else people constantly falling short of the mark, feeling like failures unable to please
God.
It is only when we realize that Jesus Christ came and died that we could live in obedience to Gods Word, through and in Him (our Saviour), that we experience true freedom. Freedom to obey, forgive, love, bless others and enjoy life. Freedom to know that with Jesus in our hearts we can live Godly lives, and that if we do stumble He is faithful and just to forgive us, enabling us to turn away from our bad choices and place ourselves back into His loving hands.
So as the celebration of the coming of the Savior of the world draws closer, do you have religion or relationship? The choice is yours!
CHOOSE RELATIONSHIP NOT RELIGION, EMBRACE THE ‘LIVING WORD’NOT THE ‘WORLD’!
Have an anointed Wednesday.
Much love
B & C
