DAILY WORD – TUESDAY 05 DECEMBER 2005

AND SO IT IS: ALL WHO TRUST IN CHRIST SHARE THE SAME BLESSING ABRAHAM RECEIVED.

(GALATIONS 3:9)

God desired nothing more than to bless Abraham and even called him friend.  Abraham obeyed God, trusting Him with every aspect of his life knowing that God could be trusted and was faithful to keep all His promises.

In fact his story shows that the only time things really got messy was when he failed to trust in Gods promises and timing, and took things into his own hands. The greatest example of this is when God told Abraham his descendants would number the stars. Sarah was already way beyond the normal age for childbearing and saw no way that this would happen.

What Sarah couldn’t comprehend was that nothing is impossible with God. She knew that in the natural order of things her having a child was physically impossible, so she reasoned that God would defiantly needed some help with this one.

She took things into her own hands giving her maid servant to Abraham in order, that through her, they would have this son God had promised. And so Ishmael was born and life was never the same again. What was left was one big mess.

We all know the rest of the story, the eventual birth of Isaac, the jealousy between the two women resulting in anger and bitterness, and the subsequent banishment of the maid servant and her son.

The thing is; how many times have we, in our haste to bring about things in our life we believe God has promised us, taken matters into our own hands creating an Ishmael. Too often we rush into accepting second best because we feel that God isn’t doing it fast enough or else isn’t able or willing. And when it all goes wrong we shout to God for help with words like ‘why are you doing this to me’ or ‘how did this happen’.

God wants His best for you!  He doesn’t want us to run from one messy situation to another but to rather ‘be still and know He is God’. So today let’s let Him, be God of our lives in thought, word, and deed.

Trust in Jesus. He is our way, our truth and our life and He is our best!

Have a trusting Tuesday

Much love
