DAILY WORD – THURSDAY 17 NOVEMBER 2005

LISTEN TO THIS WISE ADVICE; FOLLOW IT CLOSELY, FOR IT WILL DO YOU GOOD, AND YOU CAN PASS IT ONTO OTHERS: TRUST IN THE LORD.

(PROVERBS 22:17-19)

Sounds too simple doesn’t it, and yet I wonder how many times we settle for the world’s best and not Gods best. Many times, in our haste to get things done, get results, or get the things we think we need and want, we look to the world for instant answers, instead of taking the time to search Gods Word, and seek His wisdom. Hindsight is a great teacher, and I am sure we can all tell a story of a bad decision made or a wrong path taken that resulted in the reaping of bad fruit.

‘Trust in the Lord’, so what does it mean? Well the word ‘trust’ speaks of relationship and reputation. We trust specialists, in whatever field they specialize in, because of their good reputation, either spoken about or written about. We also learn to trust people, by having personal relationships with them that, over a period of time, prove them to be trustworthy.

So, in order to ‘Trust in the Lord’ we have to

a,  Have a personal relationship with Him

b,  Study His reputation by both reading His written Word and listening to the testimonies of                         others who have experienced His greatness.

And as we tentatively step out of the boat of our own fears and doubts, like children taking their first steps, we will begin to experience the faithfulness of an awesome, omnipotent, omnipresent God, who knows us and cares about  us, individually.  A God who cares about every aspect of our lives, from the biggest issues to the tiniest concerns, and then we will know that His goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives.

BELIEVE, TRUST IN, AND SPEAK ‘THE WORD’--- NOT THE WORLD!
