DAILY WORD – TUESDAY 15 NOVEMBER 2005

THOSE WHO LOVE AND FOLLOW ME ARE INDEED WEALTHY. I FILL THEIR TREASURIES. (PROVERBS 8:21)

MAKER OR MAMMON

So, what is Gods wealth? Is it fast cars, big houses, expensive holidays, loads of money in the bank? I’m not saying that God doesn’t want to bless us materially, but that’s not all its about, and it is dangerous when we start to measure our own or other peoples spirituality with the yardstick of money and possessions.

God is not so much concerned about how much money we have or don’t have, but rather with what we do with what we have; whether we are good stewards or not. I have known people (Christians) who have had great material wealth and have used it to manipulate and dominate others. I have also known others with very little material wealth, who have opened up their homes, sharing everything they have, with those who have hit on hard times.

No, Gods wealth, His riches, go far beyond the material realm. Gods’ wealth starts first with the spirit, then the soul (mind, will and emotions), and lastly the body (flesh) with all its desires. In contrast the spirit of mammon (the lusts of the world with its systems) screams at us to fulfill all the desires of our flesh first, even deceiving us into believing that this will be a sign of our spiritual growth.

True wealth is being in intimate relationship with our maker, everything we have and are, being surrendered into His mighty hands. Having His peace garrisoning our minds, and His grace and mercy gently leading us into submission to His will. His immeasurable love leading us into emotional wholeness, and His strength empowering our bodies to walk in His paths from glory to glory, day by day.

When our treasuries are filled first with the life of God, everything else becomes renewed and restored. Then, in His perfect time, our Lord adds every good thing. In Him, and only Him, is life and life abundantly.

So who has your heart today, who will you follow ---- the maker or mammon?

CHOOSE LIFE --- CHOOSE GOD!
