DAILY WORD – THURSDAY 20 OCTOBER 2005

Don’t YOU REALISE THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN MASTER? YOU CAN CHOOSE SIN (WITH DEATH) OR ELSE OBEDIENCE (WITH ACQUITTAL). THE ONE TO WHOM YOU OFFER YOURSELF --- HE WILL TAKE YOU AND BE YOUR MASTER AND YOU WILL BE HIS SLAVE. (ROMANS 6:16)

I wonder how many times we have done the wrong thing, only to find ourselves saying things like ‘I just couldn’t help it’ or ‘it wasn’t my fault’. What about the times we say something harsh to or about someone and them excuse ourselves with words like ‘well they provoked me’ or ‘they shouldn’t have done what they did then I wouldn’t have said what I said’.

I have come to realise that I have to take ownership of my own actions and reactions. Gods Word is clear, we have a choice, we ultimately decide, moment by moment, what we are going to think say or do. Let’s face it, today we can choose to be servants of The Lord, walking in obedience, or slaves to our flesh and all the works of the enemy.

Part of growing up in The Lord is taking responsibility for our own actions, and becoming completely honest with and about ourselves. This is rarely an easy task, as I have found out many times, but I have decided that I no longer want to be a slave to my flesh and emotions or allow my mind to be used as a dumping site for all the devils lies!

But my greatest discovery in all of this, is that when we make the right choice, God Himself empowers us with His grace to do His will. When we turn away from our flesh with all its constant demands, in favour of obedience to God, His peace that surpasses all understanding overtakes us giving us victory in the deepest valleys. His strength replaces our weakness, His love restores our wounded soul and His glorious power takes us into our destiny in Him!

SO TODAY?

CHOOSE LIFE, CHOOSE GOD!
