DAILY WORD – MONDAY 17 OCTOBER 2005

KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON ALL YOU DO AND THINK. STAY TRUE TO WHAT IS RIGHT AND GOD WILL BLESS YOU AND USE YOU TO HELP OTHERS.  (1 TIMOTHY 4:16)

Are we staying true to what is right? Do we really watch what we do and think?

There are times when we seem to be doing the right things and even saying the right things, and yet our thoughts can be full of negative emotions and attitudes.

And then, at other times we can have all the right thoughts and intentions and yet still follow the leading of the flesh by doing the very thing we know we shouldn’t do.

It is so much easier to see the faults of others and to excuse all our own bad attitudes, but it is time for us to grow up and take responsibility for our own thoughts, words, and deeds if we truly want to walk in the blessings of our God. And let’s be honest, how can we really help others if we see everything with a critical eye.

We have to keep a vigilant eye on ourselves first, with all our thoughts, words and deeds, keeping our ears and hearts open at all times to hear the Holy Spirit as he warns, encourages and corrects us. And above all, we must lean our entire personality on Him who is the only one who can truly change us.

This week, Oh Lord, help us the sow only that which we want to receive. Help us to take the ‘log’ out of our own lives before we attempt to remove the ‘splinters’ from our brothers’ lives. Change our desire Lord, that we might seek to be blessings rather than just to be blessed. Help us to be honest in our judgment of ourselves, yielding, that which we know needs to be changed, to you.

Amen.

say what you pray

speak what you seek

SPEAK THE WORD NOT THE WORLD
