DAILY WORD – THURSDAY 18 AUGUST 2005

BUT WATCH OUT! BE VERY CAREFUL NEVER TO FORGET WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN GOD DOING FOR YOU. (DEUTERONOMY 4:9)

EAGLES OR CHICKENS

How quickly in life, we forget Gods blessings. A new challenge, a difficult situation and suddenly we feel helpless or abandoned, like chickens scratching in the dirt for a morsel of food. We forget where we have come from, how much we have been delivered from and for how much we have to be thankful.

We read about the Israelites, 40 years in the desert because of their hard complaining hearts, and think ‘wow! How could they have failed to see how greatly God was caring for them’? Yet how many times do we also quickly forget what God has done for us? The scary fact about them is that their attitudes kept them from the Promised Land (Gods promise). I don’t know about you but I don’t want my attitude to keep me from Gods promises and destiny for me.

From this example, we can see that thanksgiving is one of the keys to coming into the plans and purposes of God. Thanksgiving demonstrates a heart of trust and obedience. A heart that knows that Gods ways are far greater than ours, and faithfully follows ignoring the circumstances surrounding them. Does this sound like you today?

Let’s adjust our attitudes, fill our hearts with praise for all that our God has done for us, and rise up as eagles into His destiny for us today.

Remember today:  ATTITUDE = ALTITUDE.
