DAILY WORD – MONDAY 27 JUNE 2005

trusting or terrified?

Do you remember, as children being afraid of an imaginary monster that you were convinced would show up in the middle of the night to catch you? How many nights did you lie in bed unable to sleep just worrying about the possibility? Now, years later we laugh at the memory.

But have we really got over our fear of monsters or is it just that our monsters have changed?

Today’s monsters may not have long hair and smelly breath but they can still appear just as real, and be just as terrifying. What we need to remember is that as children, the monster never did show up, and today we have the wonderful promise that our God will take care of our tomorrows.

So this week what ‘monsters’ are you afraid of, and are you running to your heavenly father, trusting that He will chase them away? It doesn’t matter how big or small your ‘monster’ might be our God is bigger and more than able. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. So who is the creator of our imaginary monsters? Satan of course and we need to remember that this ‘greatest monster’ of all was defeated at Calvary.
